Alan Shearer names Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in Team of the Week
Alan Shearer has waxed lyrical over Arsenal duo Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka after the 3-2 win against Liverpool on Sunday.
Both the 21-year-olds were on top for the Gunners as they further solidified their title credentials with a win over the big boys.
Speaking to the Premier League official website on 11 October Shearer named them in their Team of the Week.
He said, “Gabriel Martinelli- Liverpool couldn’t handle his runs in behind, his quick feet or his vision. He fully deserved his goal and assist.
“Bukayo Saka – He timed his run brilliantly for his first goal and then withstood the pressure to convert his penalty and clinch a massive three points.”
Bright future
Both Saka and Martinelli are in extension talks with Arsenal and that’s precisely what the hierarchy should be prioritising.
Europe’s top clubs surely would be looking to sign them if they were on the market and a new deal will do wonders for them as well as the club.
The Gunners will be protected and can demand crazy money in case someone seriously wants to sign them and they’re willing to leave.
From the players’ point of view, it’s a massive pay hike and it represents just how important they are not just in the present but also in the future.
Saka is already adored by the Emirates faithful as he’s their golden boy and his praises are sung endlessly in North London.
We cannot wait to see if the two maintain their consistency right until the end of the season and drive Arsenal to the title.
