Aston Villa starlet Finn Azaz open to move this summer

Aston Villa starlet Finn Azaz has admitted that he’s open to a move this summer after being out on loan for the 2021/22 campaign.

The 21-year-old was at Newport County this season and his one-year spell has now come to an end.

He plans to take some days off before he begins to reflect on his campaign, but the door remains open for another move ahead of next season.

He told South Wales Argus, “I am trying not to think about it too much. I will finish this season and then anything can happen in football so there is no point in speculating.

“I will have a couple of weeks off, then reflect on the season and start thinking about it. I will just be open to where I can go.

“I’ve hardly been at Villa, so I will see what they want me to do. I will just go where I am told.”

Worth a punt?

Azaz was named as the League Two Young Player of the Year for the current campaign.

Sending him out on loan clearly proved to be the right call made by the Villa hierarchy.

However, he’s clearly outgrown the fourth tier and probably deserves a better challenge next season.

At 21, he could even be worth a punt to keep at the club and possibly give a go in pre-season.

Steven Gerrard will certainly be looking to work with the younger players and he could look at Azaz – who’s had a good season.

He might not be Premier League level yet, but a year on the fringes and training with the first team could do his quality and confidence massive wonders in the future.
