Brentford youngster Mads Bidstrup addresses speculation over permanent move to Copenhagen

Mads Bidstrup admits that he does not know what the future will hold for him at Brentford but enjoys being linked to Copenhagen.

The 21-year-old is on loan at the Danish club and has been a regular for them, making 14 starts this season.

The Bees manager Thomas Frank included him on the bench on numerous occasions in the Premier League but he is yet to feature for them in the competition.

The midfielder told Tipsbladet, “Of course, I am happy to be linked with a big club like FC Copenhagen. There’s nothing wrong with that,” he said.

“It’s not really concrete to me. People are talking, so I can’t really relate to that right now. Firstly, I am on loan at FC Nordsjælland and secondly, I am under contract at Brentford.

“I also have a past at FCK, so I know about it. It’s not something I can relate to right now. I’m so happy up here and at Brentford. So, my first priority is to do so well here so I can play my way into the Premier League club.”

Prove his worth

The midfielder has been sent out on loan to prove his worth and win a spot in the first team or he could leave for good.

Thus far he’s done well there but that’s for the standards of the Danish league and it’s undoubtedly a higher bar in the Premier League.

Frank has a settled midfield and would want to upgrade it rather than rely on a youngster to replace a senior player unless he’s exceptionally good.

We do not think Bitstrup is ready for a senior role just yet but maybe after a year or two, if he’s still on the books, he could be a first-team player.

He has an important decision to make at the end of the season and by the looks of it, he will be happy to move there permanently.

We still don’t know what Frank thinks of his future and it will be interesting to hear what he says about him in the coming months.
