Manchester United enter race to sign Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo - report
Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo is attracting interest from several top clubs, with Manchester United the latest team to enter the race for the 21-year-old, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Ecuadorian international’s rise through European football has been quite exponential, with the midfielder signing for Brighton in 2021 for just £4.5 million.
Despite only making 22 Premier League appearances for The Potters, The Mirror recently reported that Brighton were willing to part ways with the youngster at the end of the season but were demanding a sum in the magnitude of £85million.
According to Sky Sports reporter Plettenberg, Caicedo has also attracted attention from Liverpool – who also want to sign England star Jude Bellingham.
He Tweeted: “News Caicedo: Manchester United is planning to enter the race. Bosses highly interested. Also on the list of Liverpool – next to Bellingham – and spotted by many other top clubs.
“Teammates say he is an ‘exceptional player & character’. Brighton hopes that he will stay beyond 2023.”

Fee too much
Caicedo is undoubtedly a huge talent and one of the brightest prospects in European football, but a fee in the region of £85million seems a little extortionate for someone who has only played in the Premier League 22 times.
He has already played a crucial role for Ecuador during the Qatar World Cup and will look to produce an assured display in their winner-takes-all crunch encounter against Senegal in Group A.
The 21-year-old does fit the profile of midfielder that Manchester United need at Old Trafford in the coming years, with the Brighton player assured on the ball, not afraid to snap into a tackle, and possessing the abundance of energy needed to press and harry opposition teams.
He seems like the ready-made replacement for 30-year-old Casemiro at Old Trafford, but United will want to assess the midfielder over a longer period of time before digging deep into their pockets in order to lure him away from several other European suitors.
