Celtic loanee Scott Robertson suffers season-ending injury
Celtic have welcomed back 20-year-old midfielder Scott Robertson to Glasgow after his loan at English League One side Crewe Alexandra ended prematurely.
The Scot had been out of action for the Railwaymen since they were beaten 4-1 away at Accrington Stanley last month and the Hoops have now recalled him so he can undergo his rehabilitation under their watchful eye.
This was Robertson’s longest loan away from Parkhead having played 23 times for David Artell’s side, scoring twice, although he hasn’t been able to help the Alex form being rooted to the bottom of the third tier.
“Robbo”, as he has been known to many of his teammates, will now have his eyes fully set on next season where he may hope to earn a move elsewhere if he cannot break into Ange Postecoglu’s first team in any way.
Crewe manager Artell seemed reluctant to put his full faith in Robertson despite an encouraging start to his time at the Mornflake Stadium as the former Gibraltar international chose to favour players from the club’s own academy over the Celtic loanee.
It is perhaps best then that Robertson has returned to Scotland having failed to secure a regular place in the Alex side when they have been in such poor form.

Postecoglu will assess his place in the squad when he returns to fitness next season but having struggled in League One on previous occasions too (at both Doncaster Rovers and Gillingham) he may struggle to keep his place at Parkhead.
In other Celtic news, Postecoglou has a bit decision to make on Karamoko Dembele.
