Celtic starlet Ben Doak teases Liverpool with stunning international performance

Celtic talent Ben Doak had many purring last week as he helped Scotland under-17s recover from going 2-0 down to the Czech Republic as they salvaged a precious point.

The talented youngster was influential and had a hand in both goals. The first saw the pacy attacker spin away from two men and drive with the ball from inside his own half after collecting from the goalkeeper. Doak had the awareness and precision to slip in Rory Wilson who slotted home to make it 2-1.

The Celtic starlet was heavily involved again as Scotland grabbed an equaliser. A fantastic touch took him between defenders as he accelerated impressively away from danger before slipping another pinpoint through ball in behind the Czech backline for Dylan Reid, who squared for Wilson to net his second and Scotland’s leveller.

Since coming to the fore for Scotland U17s in September with a stellar debut goal, Doak’s stock has continued to rise, as have his performance levels.

The winger has become a regular in Tommy McIntyre’s Celtic B side and has also impressed Ange Postecoglou, earning two first-team appearances this season, coming off the bench against Dundee United and in the last Old Firm against Rangers. In doing so, he became the club’s second-youngest ever player after Jack Aitchison.

The 16-year-old’s staggering development and performances haven’t gone under the radar though, with English Premier League giants Liverpool poised to sign Doak from Glasgow in the near future [The Athletic].

Celtic will be desperate to hold onto the impressive youngster, who looks like he could be a superstar for club and country in years to come.

All eyes will be on Doak again tonight [29 March] as Scotland U17s take on Georgia in a must-win match in the hope of securing qualification to the European Championship in Israel this summer.
