View: Liel Abada will give Celtic big payday next summer

Celtic have enjoyed a fabulous start to the Scottish Premiership season and there has been one young attacker at the forefront of it all.

Liel Abada has taken to life at Parkhead extremely quickly and after bedding into great effect last season under Ange Postecoglu, he has gone on to another level this campaign.

After 10 Premiership matches, the 21-year-old already has six goals and two assists to his name as the Hoops sit proudly at the top of the league table, two points above Old Firm rivals Rangers.

Celtic shouldn’t have to worry about him leaving anytime soon either (in theory) as his contract runs until 2026, according to Transfer Markt, which would see him win the league every time if he keeps up this level of performance.

But the directors and businessmen at Parkhead may have a different story in mind with Abada likely to be attracting heaps of transfer interest the more he scores and dominates in Scotland.

The Premier League or other giant European leagues could soon come calling for the Israeli Under-21 international and the transfer fee would be a mind-boggling figure for Scottish football.

For that to come true, however, Abada has to not only maintain his levels in the Premiership but also impress in Celtic’s final two Champions League group stage games against Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk.

The bigger teams in Europe won’t be taking much notice of his domestic form unless he is scoring 40 goals per season – which seems unlikely for a natural winger – so he has to do something special on the continent.

His sale could finance a big push in the Celtic recruitment that may see them surge way ahead of Rangers and towards the best in Europe.

In other Celtic news, Abada has recently changed agents which may also change how he is seen outside of Glasgow.
