Borussia Dortmund to negotiate price for Chelsea target Jude Bellingham in 2023 - Fabrizio Romano
Borussia Dortmund will reportedly negotiate a price for Jude Bellingham only in 2023 with a number of clubs including Chelsea keen.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues, along with Manchester City and Real Madrid are hot on the 19-year-old’s heels.
Dortmund do not want to rush into this sale as he’s their biggest asset and will test the waters next year, perhaps after the World Cup.
Via Twitter, Romano wrote, “Nothing has changed for Bellingham deal. Liverpool consider him the main target, contact already started — but Real Madrid, Manchester City and also Chelsea remain in the race. Nothing will be decided now. Borussia Dortmund will only negotiate on price in 2023.”
Important role
Chelsea desperately need a new midfielder in the summer and maybe even two with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante both on their way out.
The Italian may still have a future but the Frenchman will be parting ways with the club.
Bellingham is unsurprisingly going to be one of the biggest if not the biggest transfer in Premier League history if he does end up moving to England.
Real Madrid want him as well but they’ve signed two high profile midfielders in back to back summer windows which may see them staying away from a potential bidding war.
This could see it going down to Manchester City or Chelsea and the side with the deepest pockets may end up signing him.
The Blues need him more than the Citizens and Todd Boehly has shown his willingness to spend big bucks in order to get them back to being one of the best in Europe.
Interesting few months ahead and negotiations could see the likes of Liverpool also trying to make a final attempt.
In other news, Chelsea have deadline by which they can recall Callum Hudson-Odoi from Bayer Leverkusen.
