Chelsea: Aurelien Tchouameni may be ideal long-term N'Golo Kante replacement

Chelsea could find the ideal replacement for N’Golo Kante in Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

The 22-year-old has been absolutely killing it in Ligue 1 this season and despite not playing for the best team in the division, he’s managing to earn adulation from fans and pundits alike.

While he’s not even half the player Kante is, the Blues know that the Frenchman possibly has only a couple of good years before he’ll have to be replaced.

According to AS, the 22-year-old is on the Blues’ radar for this summer.

Given his abilities, there’s possibly no midfielder in Europe who’s quite like Kante so what Chelsea must do is find someone who can recreate what he brings to the table.

Thomas Tuchel is certainly an astute tactician and he’ll know how important it is to have a Kante-esque player in the team.

The Frenchman does not go hiding in any game and he’s always there to challenge the opposition to a duel – winning them more often than he doesn’t.

In Tchouameni, Chelsea will be getting a player who does what Kante does and someone who can play that killer pass in the final third as well.

In the graphic above, one can clearly see where the young Frenchman’s strengths lie.

He is phenomenal at winning the ball through tackles and interceptions, much like Kante, and in addition to that, he’s got an impeccable passing range.

The 22-year-old averages close to 12 progressive carries + passes per 90 minutes in Ligue – which are phenomenal numbers.

Looking at the players he’s being compared to, there are no doubts that he’s on his way to the top and the Blues should look to sign him this summer.
