Chelsea have deadline by which they can recall Callum Hudson-Odoi from Bayer Leverkusen - report

Chelsea have a deadline by which they can recall Callum Hudson-Odoi from his loan spell at Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen, according to Kicker.

Hudson-Odoi joined Leverkusen on loan this summer for the season and has already made 15 appearances for Xabi Alonso’s side in Germany.

The report claims that Chelsea will have to make a decision on Hudson-Odoi before Christmas on whether they want to recall the English youngster for the remainder of the campaign.

It’s likely Graham Potter will be taking a look at his squad over the FIFA World Cup break, analysing whether or not bringing Hudson-Odoi back to Stamford Bridge is a wise decision.

Fuel to the fire.

Reports keep emerging linking Hudson-Odoi with a return to Chelsea so there will definitely be some fuel to the fire of him ending his loan spell early in Germany.

Whether he’s what the Blues need right now is another question altogether, Chelsea have only managed to score 17 goals in their opening 13 games.

And despite Hudson-Odoi being a decent talent, he’s not the goalscoring attacking threat that Potter craves right now in his Chelsea setup.

The winger has only managed one goal and two assists in 15 appearances so far in Germany, hardly eye-catching statistics to warrant an early return to the Bridge.

Nevertheless, his performances have been solid in Germany, so a return isn’t completely out of the question, it may even help him reignite his career again.

Chelsea will likely access what options are on the transfer window first before considering bringing back the winger early, there are plenty of options out there with their limitless budget.
