Dynamo Moscow midfielder Arsen Zakharyan reveals he wants to join Chelsea
19-year-old Dynamo Moscow midfield maestro Arsen Zakharyan has revealed that he wants to join Chelsea from the Russian outfit.
The Blues were believed to be closing in on a move for the youngster this summer but a switch was blocked by British sanctions on Russia.
Zakharyan has now admitted that he wants to “join” Chelsea after his agent and Dynamo Moscow revealed to him they wanted to make a move happen.
“My agents and my club have told me that a request has come from Chelsea,” the midfielder told Russia’s Comment Show, via The Sun.
“I have directly said my position is that I want to join Chelsea.
“I know that there is a good competition in my position with [Mason] Mount, [Kai] Havertz, [Conor] Gallagher, so I don’t mind going on loan to adapt to the European league.
“I was stressed because I wanted this transfer.
“Right now I have Chelsea and I want to go to Chelsea.”
Silky.
Zakharyan is a silky smooth midfielder and would certainly give Chelsea boss Graham Potter some food for thought if he joined the London club’s ranks.
If he did join it may spell the end of Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s time at Stamford Bridge, since it would likely make him surplus to requirements.
The Russia international’s beggarly comments obviously indicate his time in Russia is coming to an end and there must be fuel to the fire if he’s mentioning Chelsea by their name.
The youngster played 34 games for Dynamo last season across all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing a further nine assists.
He also has four international caps to his name, impressing many plaudits in Russia for his sensational maturity.
Standing at 6ft 0in tall Zakharyan also looks like he could slot into the physical English top flight with ease, which is paired perfectly with his dribbling skills.
Whether Potter reignites the London club’s interest remains to be seen, but they could bring a far worse midfielder into their fold than the Russian playmaker.
In other Chelsea news, the club could be used as leverage in talks between Arsenal and Bukayo Saka
