Conor Gallagher clapped off by Crystal Palace fans at full-time v Chelsea - journalist

Journalist Alistair Magowan claims that the Crystal Palace fans showed plenty of love to Conor Gallagher at full-time v Chelsea on Saturday.

This came after the Englishman came off the bench to score a wonder goal to give the Blues a 2-1 win late on in the game.

Gallagher, who spent last season on loan at Selhurst Park, chose not to celebrate the goal out of respect for the fans.

Via Twitter, he wrote, “Conor Gallagher’s name rings around Selhurst Park once again, but this time it’s for a Chelsea winner. Palace fans clapping him off too after he was on loan last season. Be great to see it propel him into Chelsea’s starting XI.”

Class

Palace fans would’ve been gutted to lose that game as they watched their side play so well and take the game to Chelsea.

In passages during the second half, it felt like the hosts were the better side and were all over Graham Potter’s men.

The likes of Eberechi Eze and Wilfried Zaha played exceptionally well and they will have felt hard done by.

Gallagher, who gave them countless memories last season, spoilt their party this evening but they showed their class throughout it.

Even the Englishman, to his credit, did not celebrate the goal either, even though it was a strike that deserved it.

Hopefully, he gets more minutes for Chelsea under Potter as he does seem to be on the cusp of being the next big thing.
