Sky Sports pundit Jermaine Beckford: Chelsea midfielder Gallagher set for legendary status

Jermaine Beckford has backed Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher for legendary status in the coming years.

The Englishman has been one of the highest-rated academy prospects at Stamford Bridge.

Last season, he performed exceptionally well at West Brom, despite their relegation from the Premier League.

This term, he’s done phenomenally at Crystal Palace and has already earned shouts for being called up for the national squad.

Speaking on the Premier League pre-match show ahead of Leeds United v Palace, Beckford, a Sky Sports pundit, said, “He’s going to be an absolute legend. I’m a huge admirer of his and I know he’s going to do wonders.”

Next season, he will have a big decision to make about his future as the Blues will not want just a talented young midfielder to leave the club for good.

However, for the 22-year-old to take his game to the next level, he would want to play in the top tournaments.

He would also want to challenge for titles and that’s not going to happen at Palace or at most Premier League clubs.

That said, playing time is key for him and there’s a good chance that he forces an exit on loan or permanently as he certainly would back himself to thrive at any club.

He is a joy to watch and we cannot wait to see him playing Champions League football in the near future.

In other Chelsea news, French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni could be the long term replacement for N’Golo Kante.
