Southampton want to sign Broja and Anjorin permanently from Chelsea

Southampton are pursuing permanent deals for Chelsea duo Armando Broja and Tino Anjorin, according to the London Evening Standard.

Broja, 20, has been on loan at St Mary’s this season and scored eight goals in 26 appearances across all competitions for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

Anjorin, who’s also 20, is on loan at Huddersfield in the Championship. The attacking midfielder is yet to play for the Terriers since joining them in January due to a broken metatarsal.

The Evening Standard now claims that Chelsea will be reliant upon player sales to boost their budget this summer and striker Broja, plus Anjorin, are two home-grown talents who could be offloaded by the European champions.

Broja has been superb for the Saints this season.

When he’s scored in the Premier League, the south coast hasn’t suffered defeat with him finding the net against the likes of Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Leeds.

Speaking on 14 January, Hasenhuttl talked about his long-term plans for building up his young squad at St Mary’s.

As quoted on Southampton’s official website, the Austrian said: “It’s not about the amount of money we want to spend, it’s about the plans we have for future developing with this young team.

“It’s a very good way for us. They [the owners] are definitely keen to do the same.

“The atmosphere in this club is focussed, positive and in the end, yeah, full of passion and willing to make the next step. Looking forward to showing ourselves and how good we are in these super tough fixtures coming up.”
