Clubs must look to sign former Tottenham Hotspur winger J'Neil Bennett
There comes a time when there are jewels hidden for a number of reasons and they are waiting to be unearthed, even when clubs like Tottenham release them.
Even though the summer transfer window has ended, there is one special player who is still available in the market as a free agent and could be a valuable addition to a lot of teams, at least in the Championship or in a division below.
His name is J’Neil Bennett. The 20-year-old winger has recently left Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window and as of today, he is without a club.
More than a decent prospect
The decision to let someone as highly-rated as Bennett leave is a surprising one from Spurs’ hierarchy as much was expected of him.
The 20-year-old has an impressive record playing as a winger in his short career, where he scored 15 times and provided eight assists in 29 U18 Premier League matches.
In the Premier League 2, he scored five times and provided three assists in 40 appearances which is not bad at all for someone who is not playing as an outright striker.
In a total of 100 appearances at the junior level, Bennett managed to score 24 times and provided 14 assists which is an extremely impressive return [Transfermarkt].
The London-born winger is pretty quick and can play in different positions in the front three, thus making him an ideal fit for a lot of teams who are still struggling to find their right balance in the final third.
Therefore, it is about time that some teams must look to sign a player of Bennett’s quality and bring him back into the mix of things where he can show his real potential.
In other Chelsea news, the club agreed to let Callum Hudson-Odoi leave on loan during the window.
