View: 'Brilliant' Brenden Aaronson is key to everything for Leeds United

Leeds United may not have had the electric start to the season they were hoping for but one player has lit up the Premier League already.

Brenden Aaronson very nearly signed for the Whites in January under Marcelo Bielsa but the move fell through and the Whites were keen to get it over the line in the summer and did so in rapid time once their survival had been secured.

His goal contributions have not gone through the roof as Jesse Marsch may have hoped but the 21-year-old’s game is so much more than numbers in the goals and assists column.

His relentless pressing when the opposition defence have the ball often creates an attacking turnover for Leeds who then look to be potent when they get the chance.

Aaronson was at his best again away at Crystal Palace on Sunday (9 October) as BBC pundit Sam Parkin described his mazy run past four players in the 10th minute as “brilliant” before Pascal Struijk stroked the ball home.

Marsch’s men may have gone on to lose the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Odsonne Edouard and Eberechi Eze but it was the American international who really shone.

He’s even being asked to play in a slightly irregular position as a right-winger at times and especially with Luis Sinisterra suspended for two stupid yellow cards at home to Aston Villa.

But he doesn’t care, the boy just loves to play football and run as long as his legs will allow him to be a constant worry for the opposition defenders no matter who they are.

A couple more players like him and Leeds United could have an extremely exciting and difficult team to beat in the Premier League but that requires Victor Orta getting his recruitment spot on and trust being shown in the manager for a prolonged period of time.

In other Leeds United news, this scouting expert has put a huge price tag on one Whites player that would bankroll a big summer of spending at Elland Road.
