View: Harvey Elliott deserves more first-team minutes after impressive performances for Liverpool

Liverpool came into this season as one of the favourites to lift silverware, both on the domestic front as well as in Europe.

However, their season started like not many would’ve expected as in the Premier League, they are placed in seventh with just nine points, already six points behind leaders Arsenal and five behind defending champions Manchester City.

Even in these desperate times, one young player from the Reds have showcased his talent at the highest level and that has been Harvey Elliott.

Elliott has been around for a while now as he was promoted to the club’s senior team in the summer of 2021 but he never really got a chance because of so many outstanding players around.

Finally, the 19-year-old has been given a chance this season after a number of injuries and he has not disappointed manager Jurgen Klopp after putting in impressive performances week after week, despite not getting the reward sometimes he deserves.

In eight matches across all competitions for Liverpool, Elliott has scored one goal but looking into detail will tell you that he has done much more than that.

The England U21 international has managed 1.7 shots on goal, 1.2 key passes, 1.5 dribbles, passing accuracy of more than 85 % and one tackle per game [Whoscored].

Those numbers are very impressive for someone as young as Elliott and no matter who comes in, Klopp should ensure that the youngster will keep on getting more chances which is essential for his growth.
