Scarlett has been a household name amongst Spurs fans ever since he made his debut for the club at the age of 16, in a Europa League game against Ludogorets in 2020.
Former manager Jose Mourinho was a big fan and predicted that he would go on to become a phenomenal player for club and country.
The club have recognised his potential and rewarded him for his performances with a new four-year deal which he signed in May 2022, keeping him at the club until 2026. [Tottenham official website]
The centre-forward was also part of the England under-19 Europan Championship winning squad, leading the line for the Young Lions in Slovakia.
This move to Portsmouth gives the youngster a chance to grow as a player and experience consistent men’s football for the first time in his career.
Many young strikers before him have also received similar moves, such as the likes of Tammy Abraham, Patrick Bamford and Eddie Nketiah.
If Scarlett can adapt to League One football, he has the chance to make a name for himself at a club battling near the top of their division.
In other Tottenham news, the club have recruited Jermain Defoe and Yaya Toure as youth coaches.
