U18s forward Cody Ebere signs first professional contract at Everton

Cody Ebere has signed his first professional contract with Everton, the club have confirmed.

Everton’s Academy account announced on Twitter and on their official website on Thursday (15 September) that the 17-year-old has penned a three-year deal at Goodison Park.

Ebere has been with the Blues’ academy since he was 11 and is dubbed a “fast, skilful and powerful attacker”.

Good news

Ebere won’t be a name familiar to most Everton fans as he’s only just turned 17.

However, he might be someone who’s constantly on the fans’ lips as he continues to progress through the youth ranks on Merseyside.

Ebere has started all three of Everton’s Under-18s league matches this season under the guidance of manager Leighton Baines and has clearly impressed to earn this new contract.

It’s a long one too.

The Toffees wasted no time in handing Ebere a deal that will run until 2025 once he celebrated his 17th birthday, which was last week.

Clubs only do that if they’re ultra keen to tie a youngster down because they see something special in him.

Ebere was born in Germany and moved to England at the age of 17 so there’s a chance he’ll be able to represent both nations when he’s older – if he’s deemed as being good enough.

It’ll be an interesting battle if that happens because England and Germany are clearly giants of international football and we’ve seen Jamal Musiala recently choose the Germans over the Three Lions.
