View: Everton must consider Tom Cannon loan amid reported Fleetwood Town interest

Everton must consider loaning out young striker Tom Cannon in January despite him recently making his senior debut.

According to the Sun [12 November], the 19-year-old is a loan target at League One side Fleetwood Town who want to sign him until the end of the season.

Cannon was brought on 15 minutes before the end against Bournemouth to make his Premier League debut and he already made his senior boy against the Cherries a few days before the game on 12 November.

He’s bagged nine in 13 games for the Under-21s this season and it’s pretty clear that he’s outgrown the challenge of playing with players his age.

He may not quite be ready for the senior team, but a move to England’s third tier may be ideal for him to polish his skills and become a proper senior player with a lot of games under his belt.

Next season, whoever the manager is at Everton can then decide if he’s good enough to compete for a place on the bench.

The fact that he’s already doing it in the Premier League suggests that he’s playing at a decent level already and going out on loan is only going to help him in the long run.

The Toffees take good care of their young talent and Cannon is certainly a name that can go on to achieve big things at the club.

Whether or not the hierarchy will sanction a loan in January, remains to be seen but it seems like the best solution for them is to allow him to leave.

In other Everton news, Lewis Dobbin has struggled to hit the sort of form which was expected of him.
