Journalist backs Amad Diallo to be part of Manchester United squad under Erik Ten Hag

Amad Diallo should be given an opportunity to make a mark on the Manchester United first-team this season under Erik Ten Hag, according to Zach Lowy.
Diallo joined the Red Devils in January 2021 from Serie A outfit Atalanta and spent the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan in Scotland with Rangers, helping them to win the Scottish Cup and reach the Europa League final.
But with a new manager at the helm at Old Trafford following Erik Ten Hag’s arrival, Lowy believes there’s no reason he shouldn’t be involved with the first-team squad going forward considering the current options in the squad.
“Yeah I do think so,” he told The Football Wonderkids. “People forget that United paid a tonne of money for this guy.
“He was a very highly rated talent at Atalanta, I don’t think or know if Rangers was the right move for him. Probably in hindsight he should have gone to a Championship side, that would’ve made more sense for him. But hindsight is always 20-20.

“Yeah I think that a lot of the players it’s not that they’re not ready it’s just that they need an opportunity. I think that could definitely be the case for Amad because he hasn’t really got a consistent run, so considering the fact that they don’t have a clear cut right wing option with the stuff that’s happened with Mason Greenwood, and Juan Mata I believe is leaving.
“For me there’s no excuse why he shouldn’t be given an opportunity. I know there’s other options like Anthony Elanga, but I don’t think there’s any wide option, considering the fact that Ronaldo plays a central role, there’s no option that’s stood out to me.
“Even Jadon Sancho, who I had very high expectations for and I think will improve under Ten Hag, he was disappointing. So you can’t just say that because he’s got a bigger reputation that he should be getting more minutes than Amad.
“I think there should be that competition and perhaps that’s one of the reasons why Sancho had a disappointing season, because there isn’t that much competition.”
