New Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez will shine at the Etihad Stadium this season after his transfer from River Plate, according to journalist Zach Lowy.
Alvarez completed a move to City during the January transfer window but stayed in his native Argentina on loan until this summer, where he will be joined by new signing Erling Haaland too.
But while all the attention seems to be on the Norwegian striker, Alvarez has been backed to make a big impact and impressed Lowy on the lone occasion he watched him for a full 90 minutes at club level.
“I do think so,” he told The Football Wonderkids. “Definitely check out Breaking The Line’s Tiktok channel, we just launched it, the first video is on Julian Alvarez.
“I should say that I don’t watch South American football too often, but it’s funny because I did watch a River Plate game back in like November. It’s like the only River game I’ve watched in the last two or three years, but Julian just happened to score a hat-trick in that game.

“So from my small sample size he looks very good. He looks like a natural scorer and I mean yeah, we’ve seen how he’s worked really well with Marcelo Gallardo and not only that, we’ve seen a lot of other players that have made that instant impact under Gallardo and then left him and gone to Europe.”
Alvarez has been linked with a loan move away but Man City have no intention of letting him leave and expect him to be part of the first-team squad for the 2022/23 season.
