New Manchester United signing Tyrell Malacia has a “good chance” of displacing Luke Shaw in the starting lineup after completing his move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils completed a £15m deal to bring in the Dutch international on a four-year contract, with the option of an extra year, to make the 22-year-old Erik Ten Hag’s first signing at the club.
The left-back will begin training with the club and will go on tour this summer, but after shining for Feyenoord in the 2021/22 season Zach Lowy believes he is a more attacking option than England ace Shaw and he could replace him in the starting lineup eventually.
“Yeah it’s definitely an interesting signing,” he told The Football Wonderkids.
“I think that Malacia is probably a more athletically imposing choice. He’s got a lot of pace to burn, capable of getting down the flanks and linking up with his winger as we saw with Luis Sinisterra at Feyenoord.

“So he’s really capable of supplying a lot of width, and I think that’s a more attack minded option that United have been lacking.
“I think there’s a good chance he could bench him [Shaw], but I think that it probably wouldn’t be until a season or so from now.”
Malacia made 50 appearances for Dutch club Feyenoord last season, including featuring in the Europa Conference League final defeat against Jose Mourinho’s Roma side.
He has also featured five times for the Netherlands national team and will be hopeful of playing regularly enough to earn a place in the World Cup squad later this year.
