Journalist: Jamal Musiala would 'easily' fit in at Liverpool or Manchester City

We’re delighted to welcome freelance journalist Alex Barker, also known as Euro Expert, who has worked for Breaking The Lines, GFFN and more, as our exclusive columnist. Each week he will be giving his views on the biggest talking points on Wonderkids across the UK…

Jamal Musiala is already good enough to play for any of England’s top sides including Liverpool or Manchester City, says journalist Alex Barker.

The Bayern Munich playmaker has been in sensational form over the last 12 months and has already hit over 20 goals and assists this season in the Bundesliga and Champions League, which has seen him linked with a mega-money move away.

But the German giants are keen to keep him despite interest from clubs like Liverpool, and Barker believes that staying Bavaria makes the most sense for him despite his talent allowing him to play anywhere he wants.

“He could do whatever he wants,” he told The Football Wonderkids.

Unlike Moukoko where I think he needs to plan his next move carefully, Musiala is good enough to do whatever the hell he wants.

“When he steps on the pitch for Bayern he’s one of their best players, with just how good he is at dribbling, how good he is at making the right decision in the final third.

“He’s more handy than a lot of Bundesliga attackers and he could easily fit in at Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United.

“Wherever he ends up going would be tremendous, but I reckon Bayern Munich, I know Lewandowski left last year and Alaba left recently too but they strike me as a team who tend to lock down their big, big talents.

“I can’t be certain on Musiala leaving Bayern. Maybe if he’s chosen to represent England over Germany, with that crucial decision coming over a year ago, perhaps we might have seen him moving to England in a bid to get more of a spotlight in the England set up.

“But there’s no real reason for him to leave Germany if he’s going to be playing for the German national team and getting in the squad and keep starting games if he’s playing so close to home.”

Musiala is currently with the Germany squad in Qatar at the World Cup, and is expected to start in their opening game against Japan on Wednesday (23 November).
