Scouting expert: Erling Haaland will get 20-25 Premier League goals 'easily' this season for Manchester City
We’re delighted to welcome Football Manager’s Wolves researcher Dave Azzopardi as our exclusive columnist. Each week the scouting expert will be giving his views on the biggest talking points on Wonderkids across the UK…
Erling Haaland could hit 25 Premier League goals “easily” for Manchester City this season after his debut brace, according to Dave Azzopardi.
Haaland scored twice against West Ham, with a goal in each half and won the penalty he converted in a top class display as the champions opened their campaign with three points.
After seeing him in England for the first time on Sunday afternoon, Azzopardi is predicting the 22-year-old hitman could hit a huge number of goals this season and says defences should be scared of the prospect of coming up against him.
“League goals I don’t think you’d be daft to suggest 20-25 goals, easily,” he told The Football Wonderkids.
“He’d been in and out in terms of form and I looked at him in the Community Shield and thought would he be ready for it, but against West Ham United he was phenomenal.

“Obviously the pace, the strength, the power he’s got. The way he won the penalty, causing an absolute nuisance. The second goal especially. People were talking about him coming to the Premier League and comparing it to the Bundesliga with the amount of space you get in behind. He proved everyone wrong there with the way he created the space for himself, and gave him the time to twist his body and slot it past the goalkeeper.
“With players like De Bruyne behind him feeding him those balls, it’s going to be scary for a lot of defences coming up against Haaland.
“He’s got his height Haaland, but hes going to be quicker than a lot of centre halves in the league too. So if he can create that little bit of space in behind, teams can’t afford to sit high against City because he’ll do that every single time and nine times out of ten he’s going to find the back of the net.“
