Youth football expert thinks 'absolute animal' Jake Tones could make Sutton United debut this year
We’re delighted to welcome the founder of Kinetic Academy Harry Hudson as our exclusive columnist. Each week the youth football expert will be giving his views on the biggest talking points on wonderkids across the UK…
The Kinetic Academy has been a beacon of light for youth football ever since its inception in 2011 and they have now reached 60 graduates.
The latest player to earn a professional contract from the foundation is Jake Tones who has signed to play for Sutton United for the 2022-23 campaign.
The Amber and Chocolates will take on their second season in the Football League this year and Kinetic’s founder, Harry Hudson, thinks Tones could make his debut for the club at some point this season.
“It’s mad because I feel like we’ve only just hit 50,” Hudson said exclusively to The Football Wonderkids. “That was a real milestone.
“It’s great for Jake because he came to us quite slender although, with bags of ability, he struggled to impact games as much as he hoped.
“He was probably seen as a luxury player but transformation to where he is now is so vast, he’s an absolute animal out of possession and scores goals, assists.
“He’s a creative midfielder with real balance on the ball and a fantastic eye for goal. He has scored some worldies for us on a regular basis.
“The penny dropped with Jake about six to eight months ago and after he played against Sutton for us, he went on trial there and Marvin Williams has said he’s been brilliant.
“There was no other option than to give the kid a contract and if Sutton stay in League Two, I think he could make his debut in the next year.”
The U’s began the season with a 1-1 draw at home to Newport County and now head away to Doncaster Rovers for their second match of the 46-game campaign.
In other Kinetic Academy news, Hudson is keen to see equal pay across all international teams be put in place as equity is sought in football.
