Liverpool defender Neco Williams faces uncertain future ahead of summer transfer window

Liverpool defender Neco Williams is reportedly facing an uncertain future ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to the Evening Standard, the 21-year-old is keen on making a mark at Anfield but also wants regular first-team football.

The fact that Wales are on the cusp of qualification for the World Cup will make it all the more important for him to play his way into the squad.

This season, Williams has been out on loan at Fulham – where he has impressed a great deal – and helped them secure promotion as well.

Another loan move next season has been mooted and with the Cottagers set for Premier League football, he will have more eyes on him and his chances of making the Wales squad will increase.

It remains to be seen what Liverpool do as they would certainly be looking for backups for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Rather than making the evergreen James Milner play there or have Joe Gomez, a centre-back playing out of position.

Jurgen Klopp is not one to shy away from giving youngsters the opportunity to play for the senior side.

Williams has featured under him in the past and a good loan spell will only make his case for a first-team role stronger going into next season.

The German will certainly keep an eye on the 21-year-old in their pre-season campaign and then make a decision as to what he plans on doing about him.
