Leeds United young talent Stuart McKinstry agrees Motherwell loan move

Leeds United youngster Stuart McKinstry has agreed a loan move to Motherwell this summer.

According to a report from The Daily Record on 16 August, the 19-year-old is heading back to his boyhood club, with the Fir Park club winning the race for his signature.

The youngster was part of the Fir Park Academy before earning his big move to Leeds in 2019.

Good move

McKinstry is a highly-talented young winger, and a loan move will be beneficial for his growth.

He is a regular member for the club’s Premier League 2 side and even made a Premier League appearance last season when he came on as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur.

The youngster also featured against Fulham in the EFL Cup, which shows the club rates him highly.

Jesse Marsch wants to sort out his contract. He has only a year left on his present deal, and the club want him to extend his stay.

However, Leeds United were open to letting him go and enjoy a loan spell for his development.

He came through the academy ranks at Motherwell but didn’t make a first-team appearance before he moved to Elland Road.

Motherwell boss Stevie Hammell knows him very well. McKinstry worked with Hammell when he was a youth coach, and this was probably one of the main reasons why the club sanctioned a loan deal.

In other news, Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri is set to join Birmingham City on a season-long loan.
