However James has now revealed that he believes the young centre-back is more likely to be sold than English midfielder, James Maddison.
James said: “They have to keep hold of Fofana and Maddison in my eyes.
“If that got near the end of the window and one of those to go and in my mind Fofana is more likely to happen because I think there would be more external pressure from Fofana’s people on the club to make something happen.
“I think that would be so damaging, not just for the team but also for Brendan Rodgers.”
Fofana on the move?
This revelation from the Athletic reporter is a damning insight on the state of affairs at Leicester at the moment.
The Foxes are confusingly yet to make a signing this summer and currently have a squad in dire need of a freshening up.
Fofana and Maddison are the most sellable assets in the squad however the club are hesitant to lose either one of the duo.
The French defender in particular who has established himself as one of the most promising young defenders in the country.
It seems that Leicester will have a fight on their hands to keep the former Saint-Ettiene man, a fight they are seemingly prepared for.
If Chelsea are to get their man, they will have to pay premium price and stump up the necessary cash to bring Fofana to Stamford Bridge.
In other Leicester news, the first bid for Fofana from Chelsea was rejected by the club.
