Liverpool field multiple enquiries for defender Sepp van den Berg - report

Liverpool have reportedly fielded enquiries from Premier League, Bundesliga and La Liga sides for defender Sepp van den Berg.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds are prepared to allow the 20-year-old to leave on loan this summer.

However, until a suitable destination for him isn’t found, he will be part of the first-team pre-season training at the AXA Training Centre from July 4.

Rising star

The 20-year-old is one of the rising stars at Anfield and it makes sense for him to play a top-flight club for one season before he makes strides into the senior team.

He spent the 2021/22 season out on loan at Preston where he impressed a great deal and he could now play in the Premier League.

The Dutchman moved to Liverpool in a £1.3million initial deal from PEC Zwolle in the summer of 2019, which could rise to £4.4million.

Thus far, he’s made four domestic cup appearances for the Reds before spending the past 18 months on loan in the Championship.

He now seems ready to take the step up in his career and many view him as a long-term heir to Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the Reds back line.

Hopefully, we see a bit of him during the pre-season campaign as he’s extremely highly-rated and it would be a treat to watch him every week should he move to another Premier League side.
