View: Liverpool must make a move for Italian wonderkid Giorgio Scalvini

Liverpool must make a move for Atalanta wonderkid Giorgio Scalvini after they were linked with making a deal for the teenager, according to Calciomercato.

Manchester City and Tottenham are also said to be in the race for the talented youngster, so the Reds must act quickly if they are to secure his signature.

The 18-year-old has quickly climbed the ranks at Atalanta, making 32 outings for the first-team in Serie A despite his young age.

His impressive form prompted Italy national team head coach Roberto Mancini to call him up for their UEFA Nations League fixtures.

Scalvini starred against Germany in the tournament, as well as featuring in two recent friendly fixtures for the Azzurri.

It’s no surprise the teenager is gaining all sorts of attention from Europe’s biggest clubs and Liverpool must do everything they can to get him onboard.

He could thrive under Jurgen Klopp, especially given the German tacticians’ willingness to promote and play youth within his first-team squads.

The youngster may not be able to hit the ground running straight away in the Premier League but given time he could be a future great for the Reds.

Atalanta will likely only boost his price tag in the coming years, with the more experience he gets under his belt, so getting in there early is a must in this one.

If Liverpool are serious about rebuilding a team for the future, Scalvini is the type of player they would want in their ranks.

His vast potential is scary and the fact he can play easily between roles in the centre of defence and holding of midfield suggests he has the versatility to boast a successful career in the modern game.
