Liverpool open talks with Monaco for Aurelien Tchouameni - report

Liverpool have reportedly opened talks with Ligue 1 side Monaco for their 22-year-old French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

According to 90Min, Real Madrid have also opened talks with club as they’re also keen on signing him in the summer.

Chelsea are believed to be keen on the Frenchman as well but their current ownership situation may complicate their pursuit.

Whoever ends up signing Tchouameni this summer is going to end up with a quality midfielder.

He’s as good as a number of players in their prime that will also be available once the window opens.

However, what he has on them is his age as he’s only starting to showcase just how good he is.

He’s got a decent fitness record and is a few years away from being at his peak – so his resale value will also be extremely high.

He’s among the best in Europe’s top five leagues in terms of tackles and interceptions per 90 minutes, but his passing is also an understated aspect of his game.

Jurgen Klopp does love hard-working midfielders who are technical at the same time and Tchouameni is perfect in that aspect.

He could be the long-term heir to Jordan Henderson and could also be moulded to play the role Gini Wijnaldum did for a number of years under the German.

Regardless of where he goes, it’s going to be exciting watching him thrive at a big club and him getting the chance to showcase his skills in the Champions League.
