Liverpool starlet Stefan Bajcetic excites fans in pre-season cameo

Liverpool starlet Stefan Bajcetic excited fans with a promising cameo in midfield, during Liverpool’s win against RB Leipzig on 21 July.

Wearing number 43, the 17-year-old came on for the final 30-minutes against the German side, and excelled in a deep-lying midfield role.

The Reds won the game 5-0 with new signing Darwin Nunez scoring four goals, however, one of the main talking points of the game was the performance of the Spanish youth international.

Big future for Bajcetic?

The small cameo excited Liverpool fans, and made them speculate on what the Spanish starlet’s ceiling and best position could be.

Bajcetic, who is of Serbian heritage, moved to Anfield from Celta Vigo in 2021, and has 26 appearances for the club in Liverpool’s various youth teams.

He is a defender at heart, however, he had the composure to successfully dictate play from the heart of midfield, in a Fabinho-esque fashion.

The 17-year-old did not let the game faze him as he was composed and gave a midfield performance beyond his years, releasing the ball at the right time and spraying the ball delicately around the pitch.

There was even an occasion when he showed his pressing ability, moving higher up the pitch, winning possession and passing the ball to Harvey Elliot who crossed to Nunez for the Uruguyan’s fourth goal.

There has been calls from Liverpool fans to see more of the Spaniard, and with the club’s ageing midfield, a spot could open up for Bajcetic in Jurgen Klopp’s dynamic midfield very soon.

In other Liverpool news, the club have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmunch Jude Bellingham.
