Schalke make late move to sign Liverpool youngster Sepp van den Berg

German club Schalke have made a late move to sign Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg, as per Alan Nixon.

Writing on his Patreon on 29 August, The Sun journalist reported that the German club are “trying to snatch” the defender away from Blackburn Rovers.

Jurgen Klopp was ready to send him out on loan to Blackburn who were chasing after him for months now.

Blackburn move would be ideal

It would come as a blow for Rovers if they miss out on the youngster. They have even agreed to pay the money needed to sign him on a season-long loan deal.

The deal even includes penalties if the player doesn’t feature, which shows Klopp wants him to progress.

He will only be offloaded to a club that will take good care of the young talent, and Blackburn have agreed to do that.

On the other hand, Klopp knows what to expect from German clubs, especially Schalke as they have a great tradition of nurturing young talents.

It’s a bit of a dilemma at the moment, but Liverpool are most likely to send him on loan to Blackburn. It would be easy for Klopp to check his progress.

Moreover, after failing to secure promotion last season, Blackburn will be determined to make it to the Premier League this time.

Klopp would love to send the player to a competitive league, but it remains to be seen how it unfolds in the next few days.

In other news, Wesley Fofana has all but confirmed his move to Stamford Bridge on social media.
