Manchester City to lose Jayden Braaf to Borussia Dortmund - Fabrizio Romano

Manchester City are set to lose starlet winger Jayden Braaf to Borussia Dortmund this summer as his contract expires, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Dutch winger has spent the second half of last season on loan in Serie A with Udinese, scoring once in four appearances for the club as he looked for more regular first-team football.

But the 19-year-old is now set to sign a contract with Bundesliga giants Dortmund today [May 27] after being tracked by the club for ‘years’.

Braaf was brought into the Manchester City first-team picture under Pep Guardiola, training with the senior players during pre-season but ultimately was left to play Under-23’s football for much of the season.

With limited opportunities to play in the first-team, the player has instead opted to leave the Etihad Stadium and the history of Dortmund with developing young talents has been enough to see him move there.

Braaf is a supremely talented winger and a very good footballer, but his development in recent years has been stagnated by the fact he hasn’t been featuring regularly at a high level.

City were obviously keen to keep him, offering him a new deal, but the club weren’t able to give him guarantees on playing time and he opted to leave.

Ultimately the player has made the decision for himself and his own future rather than money or success and that’s a great sign for the future.

His mentality is clear and strong, he wants to make a name for himself as a top player and this move could be the catalyst for that.

Now he will head to Dortmund and nurture his talent in a league that is renowned for youngsters shining, while playing with world class teammates like Jude Bellingham, Marco Reus and Mats Hummels alongside him.
