Michael Owen: Manchester City attacker Phil Foden can win Ballon d'Or
Michael Owen believes that Manchester City attacker Phil Foden can one day win the Ballon d’Or.
The 22-year-old has gone from a hot prospect to becoming one of Pep Guardiola’s key players.
He’s established his place in the first team of both club and country and appears to be getting better with each season.
Speaking on Premier League Productions’ The Final Word (26/10, 14:10), Owen said, “I think he took a while to get going but if any player who’s going to win the Ballon d’Or from England, it’s Phil Foden. He’s the most exciting player on the English team.”
Sky is the limit
There is no stopping Foden given how well he’s been playing over the last 18 months.

It can be argued that he’s in the top 5 in the Premier League in terms of consistency and one struggles to remember when he last had a bad game.
Guardiola is the perfect coach for him as he knows his strengths and weaknesses to the T and has worked on him tirelessly behind the scenes.
We do not think Foden would be the player he is under any other manager and Guardiola is truly managed to get the best out of him.
The Spaniard himself has waxed lyrical over him and has compared him to Lionel Messi in the past so the respect certainly flows both ways.
It will be nice to see an Englishman win the Ballon d’Or again – something Owen has done – so it does make sense to take his word for it.
