Phil Foden to sign new Manchester City deal in coming days - David Ornstein
Phil Foden is set to sign a new five year contract with Manchester City in the coming days, according to a new report by David Ornstein.
The City academy graduate scored a hat-trick in the 6-3 Manchester derby win over Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, hitting 50 goals for the club in the process and establishing himself as a key man under Pep Guardiola.
And now the club is set to continue the celebrations by sealing a deal to get him to commit his prime years to the Etihad Stadium, with The Athletic reporting [3 October] an announcement could be made in the coming days.
Talks between the parties had been delayed recently as Foden switched representatives, but there was never any indication that he wanted to leave the club.
Foden made his first-team debut as a 17 year old back in 2017 and has so far made 181 appearances for the club, scoring 51 goals.
Generational
Foden may be the best Man City academy product of all time and that isn’t that profound a statement, because he’s potentially a future Ballon d’Or winner.
His insane technical quality matched with his determination, work ethic, energy and skill make him one of England’s brightest prospects ever and he has all the makings of going down as a club legend.
At just 22 yers old he has the world at his feet and is already a key member of one of the most dominant squads in Europe, and his trophy haul already looks insane.
Under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola and while playing alongside the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva he has had the education of dreams.
He’s only going to better too and now it’s Man City who will have the full benefit of his career after tying him down to a new long-term deal.
