Report: Gavin Bazunu tells Manchester City he wants more game-time amid Southampton pursuit
Manchester City goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu wants to play regular first-team football after his Portsmouth loan spell and has been linked to Pompey’s South coast rivals.
The Ireland international enjoyed a stunning loan spell at Fratton Park and looks set to leave the Etihad again next season.
According to The Times on 8 May, Bazunu has told Manchester City that he wishes to play regular first team football next season and that Premier League side Southampton and Championship promotion-winners Bournemouth are interested.
With Bazunu behind Ederson and Zack Steffen at City, a loan move does look like the best option to continue his rapid development.

It would be a sickener for any Pompey fan to see Bazunu feature at Saint Mary’s next season, yet, it is the level that he should be performing at.

Bazunu currently occupies Ireland’s number one shirt ahead of Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher, which makes it all the more remarkable that he has been playing League One football this season.
After Steffen’s horror show in the FA Cup semi-final, Bazunu could well have been bumped up the pecking order at the Etihad.
Even if Bazunu was City’s number two, a sporadic appearance in the EFL or FA Cup will be detrimental to his development.
With Fraser Forster’s future up in the air, Southampton could well be a likely destination for Bazunu, if they retain their Premier League status.
Bazunu’s a keeper who can fit into a side that likes to press high due to his high starting position.
Starting outside his box and stifling longer balls in behind a high line could be well suited to Ralph Hasenhüttl’s high-pressing Southampton side.
