Alejandro Garnacho part of Manchester United squad to play v Norwich

Teenage winger Alejandro Garnacho has been named as part of the Manchester United first-team squad to face Norwich on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils have been struggling for form in recent weeks with just three wins in their last 12 fixtures in all competitions and are now dealing with several injuries in their squad.

Luke Shaw, Fred, Scott McTominay, Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani have all been ruled out of upcoming games, and manager Ralf Rangnick has used this as an opportunity to call up Argentine winger Garnacho to the first-team for the first time according to Manchester Evening News.

Garnacho has been in terrific form for the Manchester United Under-23’s this season, scoring 12 times in all competitions including five times for the Under-18’s in their run to the FA Youth Cup final.

The 17-year-old is highly unlikely to start the game with Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga all fit in the wide positions, but there is the opportunity for a debut at Old Trafford alongside Hannibal Mejbri.

This is what Manchester United is all about, providing a path for incredibly talented youngsters to break into the first-team based on merit.

Garnacho earned an international call-up in the most recent break and while he didn’t make his international bow he was able to train alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria and Lautaro Martinez for a two week period.

It shows just how highly thought of the youngster is, and now his performances in the reserves have caught the eye of the first-team boss who has rewarded him with the call up too.

Mazy dribbling, an incredible engine, a great final ball and a work ethic to always put the team first are all fantastic attributes to have as a footballer, nevermind a teenager, and will stand him in good stead going forward undoubtedly.
