Hannibal Mejbri could leave Manchester United on loan this summer - report

Hannibal Mejbri could leave Manchester United on loan this summer for more regular first-team football, according to The Athletic.

The Tunisia international made his first-team debut for the Old Trafford club on the final day of last season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but has made just four more appearances since.

Now he will consider his options in the summer and potentially agree a loan exit in order to play more regularly to ensure he doesn’t lose his place in the national team ahead of the World Cup.

Erik Ten Hag has been given the manager’s job at the club and it’s possible that he could look to use him more regularly next season after taking a look at him.

But after rejecting a loan move to Reading late last summer, Mejbri is now more open to playing regularly elsewhere and he will hold talks with the club in the summer to decide on a plan.

It’s great that a young player is taking it upon himself to go looking for opportunities to play more regularly at first-team level despite being so highly rated at a top club.

Mejbri is one of the academy stars tipped for an incredible future currently at United and he has shown that he is above youth football with regularly startling performances for the reserves.

Ten Hag has shown during his managerial career in the Eredivisie with Ajax that he isn’t afraid of using youth players in the first-team, with the development of Ryan Gravenberch this season something to point to.

But with so many top players at the club and a big summer splurge expected, Mejbri is likely to see his chances limited and a move would be good for him.

Whether it’s in the Championship or the Premier League, the 19-year-old is undoubtedly going to have plenty of interest and looks ready to make a real impact in first-team football now.
