Man United wonderkid Garnacho could benefit from Cristiano Ronaldo exit - journalist

Manchester United talent Alejandro Garnacho may be the biggest beneficiary of a Cristiano Ronaldo departure, according to Manchester Evening News journalist Isaac Johnson.

The Portuguese superstar recently submitted a transfer request to Manchester United, claiming that he wants to continue to play at the top level of the game while he still can.

However, it has now been reported that the Argentine youth international could see the departure of the talisman as a pathway into the first-team.

Johnson said: “There’s no doubting that Ronaldo’s departure would be a big loss, but it may open a route to the first team for the likes of Garnacho.

“The teenager has been tipped to have a great career after being named as the under-18s player of the season.

“Ronaldo would surely be replaced by another incoming striker but whoever that may be, he won’t be undroppable like Ronaldo.

Garnacho’s time to shine.

Looking at Garnacho as a potential replacement is an unfair expectation to make however, it can be seen as a testament to the 18-year-old’s ability and potential.

The former Atletico Madrid youth player has made appearances for both Spanish and Argentine youth teams.

The Argentine made 32 appearances in youth competitions for the Red Devils, scoring 14 times times and providing six assists across the span of the season.

It was his brace that sealed the win the FA Youth Cup on 11 May against Nottingham Forest, with the winger celebrating with the famous “Siu” pose at Old Trafford in true Ronaldo fashion.

He was rewarded for his impressive season with two Premier League sub appearances, the first of which came against Chelsea at Old Trafford on 28 April.

Time will tell what happens with the Ronaldo situation and how the club decides to approach the situation.

However, Garnacho may see more game time if Ronaldo does depart, and with the form of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho, it is likely we could see more of the Argentine sensation this season.
