Manchester United eyeing up Monaco right-back Vanderson - report

Manchester United are interested in signing tenacious Monaco right-back Vanderson, according to Spanish news outlet Sport.

Erik Ten Hag has had a solid start to the campaign, picking up wins against Liverpool and league leaders Arsenal as he looks to transform United’s fortunes.

21-year-old Vanderson would add to the club’s already improved backline, however, they will face competition for his signature from Barcelona.

The former Gremio starlet only joined the ranks of the Ligue 1 side in January but was rewarded with a new bumper contract after his stellar performances.

Monaco will likely request a large fee for one of their prized assets, nevertheless, this has done little to put off Manchester United and ten Hag since he joined the club.

The Ligue 1 outfit will now be readying for some January bids to come their way, likely from the Red Devils and Barcelona.

Smart.

Diogo Dalot has started the season superbly for Manchester United, however, bringing in competition for the right-back in the form of Vanderson is a smart move.

It seems likely that Aaron Wan-Bissaka will leave the club at some point soon, it is clearly apparent that he is not part of the new United boss’s plans.

And with Ethan Laird out on a season-long loan at Queen Park Rangers, a move for Vanderson in January is a real possibility.

Brandon Williams is still out injured and honestly isn’t up to the levels we need for a competing right-back to Dalot.

The only issue with this one is that United are linked with just about everyone at the moment and it’s tough to pick the gossip with real substance.

Hopefully, for the sake of the fans, this one is the real deal, Vanderson is viewed as the Brazil national team’s next great right-back and United could reap the rewards of this in his prime years.
