Manchester United failed in bid to hijack deal for Karim Adeyemi - report

Manchester United have failed in a bid to hijack Karim Adeyemi’s transfer to Borussia Dortmund for this summer, according to Sport1.

Adeyemi has had an excellent campaign for Red Bull Salzburg this season and has been linked with a mega-money move to Bundesliga side Dortmund as a replacement for Erling Haaland.

But according to Sport1 journalist Patrick Berger on his personal Twitter account, the Red Devils made a move for the 20-year-old striker and even offered him £150,000 per week to move to Old Trafford instead.

Despite that offer though, the German international had his heart set on a move to Dortmund and has rejected the offer from the 20-time English champions.

He will reportedly sign a five-year deal with the Yellow and Black club, with no release clause included in the deal according to the report.

Unlikely

Adeyemi is an exceptional young talent but it seems highly unlikely that Manchester United would be in the market for him when you take everything into consideration.

Firstly the new manager hasn’t even joined yet, and the club have made it clear already that he will be involved in any transfers that the club make this season.

But also it’s been widely reported for months that Adeyemi was Dortmund-bound and it would seem to be a pretty pointless attempt when everything was done bar the rubber stamping.

It’s the right type of player to be targeting though. Adeyemi is hungry, pacey, technically secure on the ball and has a great eye for goal while not costing an arm and a leg.

But this seems like just another deal where the Reds’ names have been thrown into the mix to up the views and clicks on a story, because it doesn’t quite make sense on this occasion.
