Manchester United interested in Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo

Manchester United are reportedly interested in 20-year-old Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 20-year-old exploded onto the scene at the end of last season and has established himself as a key part of the Seagulls’ midfield after Yves Bissouma’s departure.

However, Romano has now revealed that the Red Devils, who it is no secret are looking for midfield reinforcements, are now showing interest in the Ecuadorian.

Caicedo to Manchester United?

The 20-year-old had a slow start to life on the South Coast but since the end of last season has been slowly and quietly racking up solid performances and increasing his stock in the Premier League.

After coming through the youth ranks in Ecuador at Independiente, he joined the Seagulls in January 2021 and was immediately loaned out to Belgian team Beershcot.

He returned to Brighton in January 2022 and was eventually slotted into Graham Potter’s midfield, originally next to Yves Bissouma.

The 20-year-old is a versatile midfielder, capable of playing in a deep-lying role or a box-to-box role, performing in both positions exceptionally.

The former Independiente man first drew headlines for his performance in an away victory over Arsenal in April 2022, where a phenomenal midfield performance from him helped the Seagulls leave the Emirates with a 2-1 victory.

He has since gone on to make 12 appearances for Graham Potter’s team, establishing himself as an energetic defensively-sound midfielder, in the N’Golo Kante mould.

If Manchester United can get their hands on Caicedo, he could become a player that could spell the end for their midfield woes.
