Manchester United target Jeremie Frimpong open to Bayer Leverkusen summer exit - report

Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly aware of the interest shown in him by Manchester United and is open to leaving Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.

According to Sky Sports Germany, a move to Old Trafford is becoming more and more apparent for the 21-year-old Dutch right-back.

Despite his deal expiring in 2025, he is expected to have talks with the Manchester outfit after the World Cup as he’s part of the Netherlands squad in Qatar.

Ideal Wan-Bissaka replacement

If United go ahead and sign Frimpong, it would spell the beginning of the end of Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s time at the club.

He signed from Crystal Palace for big money and proved that he was very good defensively but offered very little going forward.

Erik ten Hag decided that Diogo Dalot is his go-to right back because of his attacking threat and even in games where most of the players are rested the Portugal international continues to play.

Frimpong is a good young full-back who can initially start as a backup and then fight for his spot in the playing eleven, much like Tyrell Malacia did at left-back.

The fact that he’s Dutch will also play a major factor as the United boss has tended to prefer players with Eredivisie experience as he wants to play a certain brand of football.

He may be slightly expensive given the clubs are keen on signing him, but it’ll prove to be money well spent over the next few years.

In other Manchester United news, the Red Devils have been snubbed by this Italian starlet who would prefer to remain in his homeland.
