View: Manchester United must use World Cup break to hand new deal to Alejandro Garnacho

Manchester United must use the break for the World Cup to get Alejandro Garnacho to sign a new deal at the club.

Not many knew about the young Argentine when he joined from Atletico Madrid in 2020 but he quickly started to make a name for himself with the academy side.

The FA Youth Cup win last season also highlighted just how far ahead he was of most players his age and a first-team call-up was not far away.

However, nobody saw him have this sort of an impact on the senior side as quickly and effectively as he has.

With Jadon Sancho’s wretched run of form and everything going on about Ronaldo, United needed someone to quash the negativity at Old Trafford.

While Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez have all been consistent performers this season, none have quite made the impact like Garnacho.

He’s scored winning goals in two crunch games already and even set up a key goal against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

Few players at that age have had that sort of impact and we’re not surprised that Europe’s big clubs are lurking, waiting to make a deal happen for him.

According to the Daily Mirror, Juventus are among the clubs keen on signing him and they can offer Champions League football to him next season – something which is not guaranteed at Old Trafford.

The ball does appear to be in United’s court and with regular game time, there’s no reason why he would not want to sign an extension.
