Youth football expert not surprised by 'huge' Antony price tag
We’re delighted to welcome the founder of Kinetic Academy Harry Hudson as our exclusive columnist. Each week the youth football expert will be giving his views on the biggest talking points on wonderkids across the UK…
Kinetic Academy founder Harry Hudson sees a lot in youth football as he helps players progress to the professional game across England.
No Kinetic graduate is yet to play for Manchester United but the Red Devils are still spending big money on young talent to feature in their first team.
The headline signing of the summer came right at the end of the window at Old Trafford with Ajax winger Antony making the £85million move from the Netherlands to Manchester.
The 22-year-old scored on his debut against Arsenal but is yet to make his second Premier League appearance due to the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the subsequent postponements of games against Crystal Palace and Leeds United.
Hudson wasn’t surprised at the enormous price tag on the Brazilian international’s head but knows that good performances in red will vindicate any amount of cash paid.

“If he scores goals and United perform well, get in the Champions League, then that price will be vindicated,” Hudson told The Football Wonderkids. “But it is obviously a huge price tag.
“It got portrayed in the media as United had agreed on a price but then Ajax wanted more and more and more so that tends to suggest that they paid over the odds for him.
“They were in a very strong position over the summer having sold lots of players and made huge profits on them so they could play hardball with United.
“He looks like a real talent and scored on his debut which helps everyone settle in and Ten Hag knows him which all works in his favour.”
United take on local rivals and reigning champions Manchester City next time out and will be hoping that Antony can come up with another goal when they need it most.
In other Manchester United news, Erik Ten Hag might be looking to bring in a new defender and has identified this young talent from the French leagues.
