Elliot Anderson signs new long-term Newcastle United contract
Elliot Anderson has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with Newcastle United after impressing Eddie Howe in pre-season.
Anderson spent last season out on loan Bristol Rovers and scored the goal that secured them promotion, before returning to Tyneside to try and break into the first-team.
He had initially been set to go on loan, before injury to Jonjo Shelvey in pre-season and some impressive performances in friendlies and training convinced the manager to stick with him.
He has made four appearances so far this season with three coming in the Premier League and the 19-year-old has been rewarded with a new long-term contract according to a statement released by the club on their official website.
“We are all delighted with Elliot’s development,” How said. “He is a natural talent, but he also has an excellent work ethic and always wants to learn.
“I know our supporters will be especially pleased to see another local boy coming through from the Academy into the first team. Elliot has earned that chance, and he has set a great example to our young players.

“He is just at the start of his journey at this level but he has a very exciting future ahead and we are delighted that his journey will continue here.”
Amazing
Newcastle is known to be a club with one of the most passionate fan bases in the country and it’s been a long time since they had a homegrown, hometown talent to fall in love with.
Anderson seems to be the man to fit that bill, at a time where the club could be forgiven for ignoring the academy a little bit with the new owners pushing to get to the top of the game as quickly as possible.
But the club are doing things the right way by not overspending on their signings and instead ensuring they build the right foundations for sustained success.
Anderson will now be a model for other academy players coming through to prove there is a pathway to the first-team if they get their head down, work hard and give their all to reach their potential.
It’s a great move for the club, for Anderson and for the fans and Newcastle have tied down one of the top young talents in the country for years to come.
