Newcastle to keep Elliot Anderson at St James' Park this summer - report
Newcastle United have decided to keep Elliot Anderson at the club this summer with Eddie Howe keen for the 19-year-old to be in the first team squad, according to the Telegraph.
Anderson has been linked with a host of Championship clubs after impressing whilst on loan at Bristol Rovers in the 2021/22 League Two season.
The Telegraph suggested on Tuesday 26 July, that if Newcastle add two more attacking faces then he could still be loaned out, but right now the plan is to keep him in the North East.
Big chance
What a huge opportunity this is for Anderson to be considered amongst the first-team proceedings at one of the richest clubs in the Premier League.
He is clearly a special talent after his eight goals and five assists for Bristol Rovers in his first-ever loan spell away from St James’ Park.
What is crucial is that he gains experience playing for the first eleven in the Premier League or the odd cup game for the Magpies.
However, if he doesn’t feature then it would’ve been a foolish decision by Howe to keep the young attacker at the club.
He was clearly thriving away from Newcastle and there would’ve been every chance that he could replicate his excellent form at a Championship club and feature regularly.
It isn’t surprising to see Howe trust in youth, even with the resources that he has at his disposal in the North East.
Let’s hope it was the right move to keep the youngster at the club this summer.
In other Newcastle United news, this Paris Saint-Germain number nine could offer them salvation if they decide to make a move.
