View: Newcastle could seal quick-fire Bamba Dieng transfer after Fabrizio Romano update

Newcastle could a quick-fire deal to sign Marseille’s Senegelase forward Bamba Dieng after a transfer update from Fabrizio Romano.

The Magpies have been linked to several strikers this window including now-PSG bound Hugo Ekitike and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos.

However, the latest striker to interest Eddie Howe is Marseille forward Dieng, who Romano revealed will be available for around €15m. [Fabrizio Romano]

Who is Bamba Dieng?

The Senegalese forward came through the youth ranks at Marseille and made his debut for Les Olympiens in February 2021.

He has since gone on to make 42 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals during that time and becoming one of the most promising young players in the team.

Dieng has also cemented himself as a prominent member of the Senegalese national team, making his debut in October 2021.

He has now amassed 11 caps, scoring once, and was a part of the Senegal team that won the African Cup of Nations in January 2022.

A right-footed forward who can also play on the left wing, he has established himself as an attacker with intense pressing ability and impressive upper body strength.

In addition to this, the 22-year-old is also very quick and uses his pace to get onto through balls regularly and finish emphatically.

He is far from the finished article, but if Newcastle can get this deal over the line, they will be signing a promising forward that will add a different dimension to their attack.
